This place only gets an OK because it has so much MORE POTENTIAL! Since we live on the beach and this is the only GAY bar in our area, we always leave home with high hopes of a good night. Parking space is limitted, but there's always paid parking available. There's a cover charge during the weekend (Friday and Saturday) $5-$10. The drinks here are a bit pricey compared to other bars in the area...especially with a high number of college and young people attending this area. The bartending staff are very nice and attentive...to be honest everyone that works here from the door to the bar are nice. There is 2 drag shows during the night...I believe 9pm and midnight...to be honest I could do without the 9pm one (it's totally unnecesary as the bar crowd is not out yet...wait till it's packed so you can make some $$$) and the intro for the show is unnecesarly way too long...(circuss style intro) it takes about 10 minutes for the show to start, as the crowd stare at each other awkardly confused as to what is going on?! The bar is huge, they have 2 bar areas, sitting areas and a huge patio in the back. The most frusturating thing about the whole place is the music...you should not be playing 80s music on Friday night...cater to your guests. We we're there for about 2 hours as people started to flee by 10pm. Hire a young DJ...lower you drink cost and you'll attract the young, vibrant crowd that will earn you top $$$. No discrimination to the older crowd but this is a beach area and compared to the other bars (straight) Bo's is left behind. You're the only GAY BAR in the area...do you know how much potential you have???!!!

I really do enjoy coming to Bo's eeeeevery once in a while. Mostly, for a girls night or if I'm supporting one of my friends in drag. That usually it. They have drag shows mainly Thursday-Sunday with an occasional show on Wednesdays. It definitely really quiet during the week with pretty good, loud shows and crowd on Fridays and Saturdays. Depending on your bartender depends on how strong of drink you get, but these babes usually do you pretty right (Like George!). By the way, they have a huge square bar right in the middle of the place as well as a 2-sided bar on the other side of the building. However, if you find yourself in here and you do feel uncomfortable, don't sit at the square bar- since that's normally where these queens approach first during the show, including stepping up ON the bar and walking on it. If you're on the beach side of town, out with your girls (or guys!) and you don't feel like getting hit on by skeezy guys at Brix, then come check these dancing queens!

Here's to a cute, clean, and friendly bar. Drinks were affordable, shots were heavy duty, and my boyfriend and I had a great time on a typically slow Monday night. :)

Jax beaches premiere gay bar! Well, the only gay bar for that matter. I'll admit it, I've found my way in here a couple times. It's pretty standard issue most of the time. Regular bar, regular music, some rainbows, sports center on the TVs, nothing that would immediate set off the gaydar. It's even got a couple windows, which is not something you see often (If you've even been to incahooots you know what I mean, place looks like a jail.) The drink prices are reasonable. They even have a monthly beer special. Least time I went, it was Abita purple haze for $2.50 all day every day. Mixed shots are served in rocks glasses so you don't feel skimped. Stay late enough and the environment takes a sharp turn. I'm almost positive they have a drag show every night between 10-11. If this makes you uncomfortable, sit at the bar and you generally won't be involved. But if you want to have a good time, sit at a table and hold out a couple singles. I'll let you figure out what happens next. I give Bo's a 3/5. Not really my scene, but as just a bar and a place to get a drink, I have nothing against it. It's generally clean and the bathrooms don't have mirrors behind the stall *cough*park place*cough*.

Four stars for Bo, RIP, for being a pioneer in the Jax gay bar scene but all you can drink and karaoke just seems like a strange combination. Both fortunately and unfortunately you're more likely these days to pick up a guy in a straight bar than a gay one. Pool tables are only 75¢ however it would be nice if on their AUCD night they would make it a gay bar with drag queens instead of your run of the mill karaoke machine. Definitely check out their once a month Sunday afternoon 'house' music party, mainly straight but fun and packed. Btw John the bartender pretty much rocks.

Yes, it is a gay bar.... No indication from the outside but that seems to be the norm in the South if it's not in gay central... Sadly our night was a slow and sad night but the staff was very friendly.. Bartender, John, was super nice, and easy on the eyes for sure. Pool tables, dance floor, easy parking, decent bar food, no smoking at the main bar (awesome), clean, and walking (stumbling) distance to the water... Overall a cool place for people, gay or straight, to have a cheap drink, play pool, or just redneck watch. Always fun.
